Getting "into" this business . . .
Often people ask me how I “got into this business”. I became interested in colonics 10 years ago after my first visit with a colon hydrotherapist here in Indianapolis. I was one of those people who held on to the business card for a year and finally, out of desperation, and encouragement from a herbalist and energy worker, I decided to give it a try as a birthday gift to myself! The experience was amazing and I wondered why it took me so much time to get the courage to go.

Taking control of my health
I have for most of my life had chronic constipation. As with most people, it never occurred to me that it was a problem. However, as other symptoms began to take over my life, I began to investigate alternative approaches to healing. I had always been interested in looking at health differently. My 3 young children in the early 80’s ate tofu and I experienced 2 homebirths in ‘81 and ‘82. As life made many twists and turns, I found myself in a very deep depression and terrible fatigue. That is when nutrition and supplementation began to take a vital role in my life. Also, my regular visits to a holistic chiropractor was very important.

As I was making adjustments in my structural body and learning about nutrition, (AKA starting to take care of myself!) my life began to get more under control. Then, my mother had surgery to remove a one-foot part of her colon. Due to subsequent complications, she has not ever fully recovered. That prompted me to look at my own constipation, colon and find ways to improve my situation. Time to get serious!

Discovering the JJIII
During the 4 years I was having colonics, I had the opportunity to visit many colon hydrotherapists and try many different devices around the country. During a vacation in New Mexico, I had a need for a colonic and sought someone in Sante Fe. She had the Jimmy John III device, which was new to me. It was the best colonic I experienced in three years and I knew then that this would be my chosen profession. My desire is to offer the most comfortable equipment to my clients and the “bedside manner” that I would want from a colon hydrotherapist. I feel it is important that every client receive a basic understanding of the digestive system which would lead the individual to making wiser food and supplementation choices for their personal needs.

And then there was . . . . CANDIDA!
During my healing journey, I had the opportunity to experience systemic Candida in a very real and uncomfortable way. It lead me to extensive research and I had countless tests performed by doctors who knew little, if anything, about this condition that over 80% of Americans suffer from. My personal dietary habits have changed dramatically as I gain a better understanding of the causes, symptoms and solutions to Candida (yeast) overgrowth. This growing passion has lead me to the Body Ecology Diet and Donna Gates, who is pioneering a new way (yet based on ancient principles) of rebuilding the inner ecosystem. I am now Certified by Donna Gates and her company to teach and coach individuals and groups.

Cleansing Waters is growing!
The first location for Cleansng Waters was my little ranch home in the Nora area.  It was comfortable and my business grew until it was clear that I needed a new location. (My husband was protesting the numerous times he would come home to find people sitting in our living room waiting.  He felt banished to the kitchen and bedroom.)

After two years we found a home with a convenient floorplan that divided home and business.  600 hundred suare feet seemed hugh.  2 years later we found our current location on 71st Street and have been there since summer of 2006!

It is a quiet and personal experience at Cleansing Waters where your comfort is my first concern. And don’t forget the humor. . . Pooping jokes are always welcome!
